Today, Rosia Montana is almost deserted,  many of houses have been sold or have been transformed  in work offices for Rosia Montana Gold Corporation.  The traditional horse carriages were replaced by Jeeps and SUVs,  company branded.

RMGC wants to begin mining in this beautiful mountain area using cyanide. This fact will lead to the destruction of 4 mountains, over 200 hectares of forest and some unique cultural, historical and natural monuments.

Rosia Montana has become a national symbol, a controversial subject, a reason for dispute and is, now, a topic of many debates.

Greenpeace Romania now concentrates its efforts on the campaign to save Rosia Montana.
